St Albans – Saturday 27th May 2017 1pm onwards.
If you already enjoy that stuff made with apples and pears and nothing else, you know what to expect. If this is a step into the unknown – do not be afraid – we will look after you. Either way, prepare for a lovely afternoon.
We kick off at 1pm in the Robin Hood (126 Victoria Street). Please say hello – we are the ones drinking cider but not necessarily chewing straw. Moving on to the White Hart Tap for 2pm (4 Keyfield Terrace) and thence to the Boot (4 Market Place) for 3pm. We then charge off to the Mermaid (98 Hatfield Road) to enjoy their Cider & Perry Festival, where there will be bucket-loads of both, some of which you will have never seen before. Here also will be bread and crackers and cheese. At about five pm there will be a presentation by the branch’s new Chairman – Les Middlewood. This is a CAMRA award to the Mermaid for being the best cider pub in CAMRA South Herts branch area in 2017. The Mermaid has been South Herts Cider Pub of the Year since the first in 2013 – well done Mermaid.
Finally, please bring a contribution to the bread and cheese table – the Mermaid will supply the tools, plates and napkins.
I look forward to seeing you there and hopefully lots of ‘new’ people too.
