Branch trip to New River Brewery – Saturday 14th October 2017

Written by Ian Boyd

Date for your diary (Sat 14 Oct)  – Detailed itinerary to be confirmed closer to the date.   Minibus will start in St Albans (mid-morning – precise time to be confirmed) and pick up in Hatfield, Hertford and Ware.  After the trip we will enjoy one or two GBG pubs on the way back.

The New River brewery is a stone’s throw away from the banks of the New River, a man-made aqueduct which has been bringing fresh water into London for over 400 years.

Since opening, John Bourdeaux and Jeremy Alter have been brewing a steady stream of excellent cask beers, combining British & International malts and hops with their very own yeast, to create contemporary styles, using traditional brewing methods, inspired by their love of British real ale.

As a preliminary taster, the New River Brewery’s full current range will be available on the Hertfordshire Bar throughout the SABCF, including their triple hopped IPA, Five-Inch Drop (its name inspired by the New River’s gentle gradient, and a recent bronze medal winner at the 2017 Hertfordshire Food & Drink Awards), and their golden ale, Twin Spring (silver medal winner at 2016 Hertfordshire Food & Drink Awards).

New River Brewery are also expected to launch a brand new beer, brewed especially for this year’s St Albans Beer & Cider Festival, so look out for this on the stillages too!
