Wheathampstead & Sandridge pub trail by bus – Thursday 29th March

Join local CAMRA members on Thursday 29th March for a trip around some local pubs by bus.

For those needing bus tickets, the St Albans BUSnet ticket at £6 – or the group explorer at £17 for 3 or 4 passengers covers the onward travel. The single fare to Wheathampstead is £3.20.

From St Albans:

St Albans City Station (stop D) 17.46 (unō 657)
St Peter’s Street (stop 13) 17.55
Wheathampstead Church 18.15

From Harpenden:

Harpenden Station Road (stop B) 17.49 (Centrebus 366) or 18.16 (unō 610)
Wheathampstead Church 18.00 or 18.29

Anyone starting earlier can leave St Albans on the 657 from the station at 16.46 or the, usually late, 304 from St Peter’s Street at 17:05 annd drop off at the Wicked Lady. You can then join us on the next bus.

On arriving at Wheathampstead head to the Swan (few minutes walk from the bus stop). Depart at 19.25 and head left out of the pub and walk along Church Street, Brewhouse Hill and Amwell Lane (0.82 mile) to the Elephant & Castle, Amwell Lane. Depart at 20.15 and retrace walk to and turn right along Butterfield Road (0.6 mile).

The next two pubs (Rose & Crown and Green Man) are opposite each other 0.16 mile south along High Street. We’ll Depart the Rose & Crown at 21.15 and the Green Man at 22.05 and walk back to the bus stop and to the Queens Head on Church End for the final pub.

St Albans City Station 22.50

There’s also a 657 back to Harpenden from the stop opposite the church at 23.17.
