Branch meeting – Tuesday 16th April 2019

Written by Les Middlewood

Our April Branch Meeting is to be held on Tuesday 16 April, at the Old Barge, Hertford – situated on Folly Island in Hertford town centre – at 8pm.

The meeting will include a full discussion based around our Branch Young Members, what Young Members might be interested in taking forward and how we might set up events and campaigning to encourage a more active membership – but you don’t have to be a Young Member to take part! And there will be plenty of other business to also discuss.

The Old Barge has been a Good Beer Guide regular for a decade or more, featuring in our May Mild Nights and Autumn Ale Trails – now with 4 real ales and a range of ciders. Originally a two-bar local it was transformed in the early 1980s into a popular town pub offering good food. More incremental improvements have continued over the years and under the stewardship of Simon and Sally Davis the pub has thrived with a busy Sunday quiz, monthly Thursday quiz evening and regular events throughout the year including the pub’s Spring Fling music festival on the late May Bank Holiday and the children’s duck race on Easter Monday. The pub is open all day with food available from noon until mid-evening.

Hertford East railway station is an 8 minute riverside walk away with trains to Ware and south to Liverpool Street. Hertford North Station is a 20 minute walk away with trains south to Cuffley and Moorgate.

We hope to see you on the night.
