Bread & Cheese at the Mermaid – Saturday 25th May 2019

Written by Brian Page

South Herts CAMRA Cider Pub of the Year

Again, the Mermaid in Hatfield Road, St Albans, has won our coveted Cider Pub of the Year award. I cordially invite you to join us at a presentation to recognise this achievement on Saturday 25th May at about 4pm. This, as in previous years, will coincide with the Mermaid’s own Cider & Perry Festival over that Bank Holiday weekend. Bread and cheese accompanying the delicious ciders and perries has proven to be a match made in heaven and I hope this year will be no exception. Said delightfully fresh bread and cheese is available in abundance for purchase at the outdoor market in St. Peter’s Street in the City centre; please bring some with you to share.

For those of you with a bigger thirst or more time, the afternoon will begin with cider at the White Hart Tap at 1pm, moving on for cider at the Robin Hood at 2pm then arriving at the Mermaid at about 3pm for the main event.

This is a fun Day and I hope to see as many of you as possible on this lovely sunny Saturday afternoon.
