Bank Holiday Events & Socials

Written by Ben Wilkinson

It’s a Bank Holiday weekend and we’ve got plenty of suggestions for real ale fans looking for something to do.

Watford Beer Festival Social

Join us on Saturday as we explore the best pubs of Watford, making our way towards a finish at CAMRA’s Watford Beer Festival.

We’ll be meeting at the Wellington Arms, close to Watford Junction station, at 1pm before setting off to check out some of the real ale pubs in the area with a brief stop in each.

The plan is then to finish up at the Watford Beer Festival, which is taking place once again at Halsey Hall.

If travelling from St Albans, the Abbey Flyer train will get you to the starting point. From other parts of the branch, the 724 bus is recommended. Everyone is welcome on this social trip and we always love to see new faces!

Mac’s Music Festival

If you’re a fan of Hertfordshire’s biggest brewery, McMullen’s, you may be interested in their music and beer festival in Hertford on Sunday. They’ll have a range of contemporary beers from Rivertown Brewing joining Mac’s heritage ales. Cider, wine, non-alcoholic beer and soft drinks will also be available. Pub Festivals

As usual the August bank holiday brings us a few pub festivals too. Ones we’re aware of that you may wish to drop in to include:

The Lower Red Lion, St Albans

The Mermaid, St Albans

The White Hart Tap, St Albans
