Congratulations to the Old Cross Tavern in St Andrew Street, Hertford, crowned South Herts Branch Pub of the Year for 2026.
A multi-times winner of this award, the pub provides an outstanding range of cask ales, stocks a number of craft keg beers and offers a large selection of Belgian and German bottled beers plus a German draught lager. There are four beer festivals a year. The pub continues to keep to its policy of no piped music or fruit machines with just occasional live music, relying on the conviviality of good conversation and laughter – the way everyone likes it.
The pub will be presented with its Gold award on Thursday 30th April from 8pm, to which all Branch members are invited.
The silver award will be presented to the Robin Hood in St Albans on Wednesday 6th May at 8pm and the bronze award to the Great Northern in St Albans on Wednesday 10th June at 7pm.
