Ye Olde Fighting Cocks wins regional tourism award

Written by Tom Blakemore

CAMRA award-winning pub Ye Olde Fighting Cocks in St Albans has been judged best pub in the regional Go To Places Tourist Pub of the Year category. The pub will be going through to the next round of judging in the hope of becoming overall Tourist Pub of the Year.

Christo from the Fighters said:

“I am truly honoured to win the Raising the Bar (Tourism Pub of the Year) Award. It means so much to me and the team at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks. St Albans as a city is a great tourist destination, we have so much to offer visitors, from our ancient attractions to our great open spaces, and extraordinary pubs, restaurants and shops.

“We see many tourists pass through our pub every year, particularly lots of Americans, who just can’t get enough of Britain’s history – and they all love a pint of real ale in Britain’s oldest pub. We will keep doing our bit at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks to promote tourism to St Albans and to work with Visit Herts to put our city and county firmly on the tourism map.

Thanks to the staff for all the work they put into tourism, it’s paying off and we have more still planned for next year.”

Congratulations to Christo and his team!
