The weather was kind for The Family Fun Day organised by Sandie Taylor from South Herts Branch CAMRA at The Hare and Hounds on Saturday 7th April. Good beer, good company and good weather, what more could you ask for. The children and many of the adults had great fun playing with the garden games. Quiots, noughts and crosses, dart ball, juggling balls, boules and tin can alley were all fully tested by the children. The climbing frame in the garden of the Hare and Hounds was also very well used.
Meanwhile the grown-ups were enjoying the range of ales provided by the landlady, Elaine. These ales included Snowdonia’s Purple Moose from Porthmadoc, Black Sheep, Monty Python from Masham, Harvey’s IPA, Lewes Sussex, Otter Bitter from the Otter brewery in Exeter and the local ale was Cask English from The Three Brewers.
Many of the visitors were not already CAMRA members so it gave Sandie, Martin and Les an opportunity to chat to some potential new members and have some fun at the same time. Suzanna Todd from Morpeth visiting her family who live in St Albans said “Thank you for organising such a lovely afternoon. The children and adults thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Even the children enjoyed the day two of them said “Thank you for organising the games day. It was fun!”
Another such family day may be organised during the summer holidays so members keep an eye on the newsletters and this website which tell of upcoming branch events.
