CAMRA South Herts hits 50 – New Booklet

Written by Les Middlewood

Since its first Branch Meeting in November 1972, when the Hertfordshire Branch formed in St. Albans, real ale has had a loyal, local and campaigning friend in CAMRA. And Hertfordshire Branch was at the apex of the early vanguard that fought to change the British brewing scene, promote great cask ale and to bring it back to our pubs.

As other Branches were formed in the county, South Hertfordshire Branch was custodian of the original torch and is now celebrating 50 years of real ale and pub campaigning.

This story is told in a new booklet prepared for the Branch celebrations in 2022. It comprises 26 colour pages packed with local campaigning information and facts, wending its way through the 50 years with stories, reports, quotes, photographs and illustrations.

The booklet can be purchased for £4.50 at Branch events throughout 2022 or for £5.20 (incl. 70p p&p) by cheque made payable to “CAMRA South Herts Branch” from Les Middlewood, 67 Cromwell Road, Hertford, SG13 7DP.

For those wishing to pay by BACS please email booklet@southherts.camra.org.uk with name and address, confirming a transfer payment of £5.20 to Sort Code 60-10-18, Account No. 81509626. “CAMRA South Hertfordshire Branch”. Please enter your name as the reference.
